National Museum of Korea

The National Museum of Korea is a walking distance from my sister's place.  After lunch at a Italian restaurant, complete with fine wine and Dolly Parton music in the background, we spent the afternoon at the museum.  The admission happened to be free.

The modern architecture of the museum was impressive.

The grounds were large and beautifully landscaped.  They had 'reflecting pool', 'lilly ponds', and different types of gardens.

Pictures of different Buddha figures from India, China, Japan, and Korea.  Joanne, being an eye doctor, first noticed the way to tell the difference is by looking at the eyes.  India - wide eyed, China- eyes down, Japan- eyes up, Korea - no eyes.  Take a closer look.

Ten story tall pagoda sits in the middle of the building.  Also inside were many things from all over Asia as well as Korea.

Hi, I'm just catching up with your blog. Joanne, did you see Grandpa's picture at the National Museum of Korea? (Mom and I found it when we were last in Korea)

Hi Helen, gosh I wish you had told me earlier - no - I didn't see the picture..actually since we are going back to Seoul and it's located only a few blocks away from Eunice's place, I'll make another trip. On second thought, this Nat'l Museum was only built last year, I hope it's there.

I will check with Mom again to make sure we're talking about the same museum. I recall it was a bit outside of Seoul. I'll get back to you after I hear back from Mom.
